Saturday Share Time: Let's Talk About Happiness

FIVE SIMPLE RULES FOR
H A P P I N E S S

I love this little bit of wisdom!

It is absolutely true that, as a society, we have let go of the simple things - the foundational precepts that built this Country. We are a people weighted down with depression, clamoring for things just out of our reach, always wanting more than we can afford, and forgetting to be grateful for what we do have. We have ulcers from too much worry; nervous breakdowns from too much stress; and obesity from too much food and too little activity.

And those things are just the tip of the iceberg. Happiness has become some kind of illusory dream. Few people expect to be happy - they're content with being...content.

That's just sad. And wrong.

So let's talk about happiness. We'll use the Five Rules laid out above. Which of the items on the list resonates most with you? Why do you think that particular action really could be a stepping stone to happiness...and how would one go about carrying out that directive?

Here's mine:

2.  Free your mind from worries.

Worrying is such an unproductive, useless activity. Jesus, in Matthew 6, spoke of its futility. "For which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?" In other words, worry solves nothing

Prayer solves everything.

Consider Philippians 4:6. (Oh, I love this scripture!) Fret not about anything (Worry about nothing!), but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God (Pray about everything!).

Let go and let God. He's there, and He cares. Lay it at the altar and leave it there for Him to handle. Free up your mind for praise and worship and thanksgiving...those are the things that can really make a difference!

Now, how about you? Which of the listed items seem to you to have the most potential to open a door to greater happiness?

  1. Great post! Enjoy the simple things and leave the rest in God's hands. He certainly knows the best way to handle things! God bless!

  3. Yes, He does, Donna! Now if only we can get our human heads and hearts to completely believe that! :)

Thanks to both of you for dropping by!

  4. I like, Give more.

No matter what we do or don't believe in, we are all hands stretched across this planet of ours. The more we can place in each one that is extended toward us, the happier we'll be.

    Thanks for the post.

  5. Jenny, I love that one too! And you're so right. The more we give, the happier we'll be. My Dad used to say that you can't receive if your fists are closed against giving...
