Review: Dragons of the Watch

The Chronicles of Chiril continue as Ellie and Bealomondore find themselves trapped in an isolated city guarded by dragons and separated from everything they know and love. How can they escape? Along the way they meet a group of wild children and a very old man, whose needs they must meet before they can find their way home. With the help of the dragons of the watch, they discover that their fate depends upon their ability to recognize and step in line with the Creator’s will.

Dragons and wizards and mischief…oh, my!

What fun! I absolutely loved it! Not having read the other books in The Chronicles of Chiril, I feared I might be lost, especially since the whole concept of worlds peopled by magical creatures and situations can be daunting and confusing to a practical stick-in-the-mud like myself.

Didn't happen. Not for an instant. Dragons of the Watch pulled me into the bottled city right along with the heroine and held me captive until—well, until I'd read every last page, right down to the cast of characters at the end. Vivid imagery, beautifully drawn "lessons" that didn't feel like lessons, gripping suspense, and tight, perfect, seamless writing that left me nothing to criticize. Donita K. Paul knows how to write a book that leaves the reader begging for more and bemoaning the need to wait for the next piece of the story.

Do not miss Dragons of the Watch! In fact, if this book is any indication of her "usual" product, any book with Donita K. Paul's name on the cover is sure to be an unforgettable reading experience - at any age.
